England booked their place in the FIFA World
Cup quarter-finals with a thrilling 3-2 victory over hosts
Mexico in a match that was delayed by an hour due to thunderstorms and heavy
rain.
At the Azteca Stadium, Jude
Bellingham starred with a first-half brace, while Harry Kane sealed the victory
from the penalty spot. Bellingham struck in the 36th and 38th
minutes to give England a commanding lead before Julián Quiñones pulled one
back for Mexico just before halftime.
England were reduced to ten men in the second
half after Jarell Quansah was shown a red card. Despite the
setback, Kane converted a penalty to restore his team's two-goal advantage.
Raúl Jiménez later scored from the penalty spot to narrow the deficit, but
Mexico could not find an equalizer as England held on for a dramatic victory.
The win sends Thomas Tuchel's side into the quarter-finals, where they will face Norway, who produced a major upset by eliminating Brazil in the previous round.
