Brahmanbaria District Co-respondent Sanjib Bhattacharjee

The Department of Occupational and Environmental Health at Bangladesh University of Health Sciences (BUHS) hosted a seminar titled "River Training Works During the Padma Bridge Construction Project," with Dr. Saika Nizam, Associate Professor of the department, in the chair. Engineer Md. Abdul Jalil, Senior Engineer and former Chief Engineer of the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), delivered the keynote lecture, walking attendees through the planning, execution, and technical challenges of managing river training works, the engineering measures used to control river flow and protect riverbanks during major construction. Prof. Dr. M. H. Faruquee, Professor and Head of the Department, served as discussant, addressing the links among large-scale civil engineering, environmental impact, and occupational safety. Prof. Dr. Sk. Akhtar Ahmad, Professor of the Department and Treasurer of BUHS, also spoke as an honored guest.
