A stolen motorcycle was recovered and one person was arrested by the Airport Zone of the Traffic-Uttara Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) during a traffic inspection operation at the Airport Outgoing Y-Crossing area in the capital.

The arrested individual has been identified as Ariful Sagar (30).

According to sources from the Traffic-Uttara Division, at approximately 9:00 PM on Tuesday (June 23), traffic officers on duty at the Airport Outgoing Y-Crossing stopped a motorcyclist who was riding without a helmet. When asked to produce valid registration and ownership documents for the motorcycle, he failed to do so. Officers also noticed suspicious and nervous behavior.

As police attempted to verify the motorcycle’s registration number and collect information about its registered owner, the suspect suddenly tried to flee the scene. Traffic officers immediately pursued him and managed to arrest him about half a kilometer away.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect admitted that the motorcycle had been stolen. The recovered motorcycle bears the registration number Dhaka Metro-L-32-4999. He was later handed over to Airport Police Station along with the recovered motorcycle.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individual are currently underway.

According to information from Airport Police Station, Ariful Sagar was allegedly involved in the theft of a motorcycle from the Airport area about six months ago and was also linked to a gold theft incident in the Bashundhara Residential Area.
