A mild heatwave is currently affecting
several regions of Bangladesh, and it is expected to spread further today,
according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
On the first day of Pohela Boishakh, intense
heat was felt across many areas. Wednesday, a mild heatwave swept over
districts including Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, Jessore, Chuadanga, and
Kushtia. The ongoing heatwave is likely to persist in these regions and may
extend to additional areas.
The weather forecast also indicates that
daytime temperatures across the country could rise by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius.
The highest temperature recorded yesterday
was in Rajshahi at 37.6°C. Other notable readings included 37.5°C in Ishwardi,
37°C in Baghabari, 37°C in Chuadanga, 37°C in Kumarkhali, and 36°C in Jessore.
In Dhaka, the maximum temperature yesterday
was recorded at 35°C.
Meteorologist A K M Nazmul Haque said that the heatwave observed on the first day of the Bengali New Year is likely to expand further today, increasing discomfort for people across the country.
