To
help ensure healthcare access for drivers and assistants working in the
transport sector in the capital’s Uttara area, the Traffic Division (North) of
Dhaka Metropolitan Police organized a special health service camp.
The
camp was held on Saturday (27 June) in the Uttara House Building area, where
more than one hundred transport workers received free medical services.
The
program was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Rubel Haque of the
Traffic Division (North). During the event, doctors conducted health check-ups
for participating workers and provided medical advice along with free
medicines.
Drivers
and assistants of buses, trucks, and other vehicles operating on different
routes took part in the camp.
According
to the organizers, the initiative was launched to improve health awareness
among transport workers—who often remain busy for long hours—and to make
primary healthcare more accessible to them.
ADC
Rubel Haque said that maintaining the health of drivers is essential for
ensuring road safety. He emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups,
adequate rest, and compliance with traffic laws.
Police
authorities stated that similar health service programs for the welfare of
transport workers will continue in the future. They expect such initiatives to
reduce health risks for workers and further strengthen discipline and safety on
the roads.
