National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Organizer and Member of Parliament for Cumilla-4 (Debidwar), Hasnat Abdullah, has called on the public to support his party's vision of building a "New Bangladesh," saying the country should ensure equal rights and opportunities for farmers, workers, and ordinary citizens.

Speaking as the chief guest at the "July March and Street Rally" organized by the Chitalmari Upazila unit of the NCP on Tuesday (July 21) at the Chitalmari Central Shaheed Minar in Bagerhat, Abdullah said, "We have come to your doorstep with the dream of building a new Bangladesh free from fascism. In this new Bangladesh, farmers, workers, and working-class people will enjoy equal citizenship rights. There will be no place for fascism. The country's students and young people sacrificed their blood on the streets to bring an end to fascist rule."

He described the NCP as a new political party and sought public cooperation in building the nation. "We are young, and we may make mistakes. If we do, we hope people will point them out and guide us. Together with the people, we want to establish a new political culture," he said.

Referring to the party's parliamentary representation, Abdullah said the NCP currently has six Members of Parliament who are raising public concerns in the national parliament. He expressed optimism that, with public support, the party aims to secure around 160 parliamentary seats in the future to represent ordinary people across the country.

Addressing the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), he alleged that although the party had pledged to implement the July Charter before the election, it had yet to fulfill that commitment. He urged the government to implement the charter and respect what he described as the people's mandate.

Abdullah also said that, in his view, the Sheikh family would no longer be able to lead the country, claiming that the people had rejected their leadership through the August 5 mass uprising.

During the rally, he introduced Ishtiaq Hossain Jami, the NCP-nominated candidate for the Chitalmari Upazila Chairman election, and appealed to voters to support him. Leaders and activists from various political parties who recently joined the NCP were also welcomed with ফুলেল greetings during the event.

The meeting was chaired by F. M. Shahriar Al Islam Jewel, Chief Coordinator of the Chitalmari Upazila NCP, and moderated by Joint Coordinator Rafiqul Islam (Kaka Mia). Special guests included Principal Mashiur Rahman Khan, MP, and Mahamuda Mitu, MP, along with central, divisional, district, and upazila leaders of the NCP and its affiliated organizations.

Following the street rally, Hasnat Abdullah led a July March, which paraded through the main roads of Chitalmari Upazila before concluding peacefully.
