The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two fugitive suspects in the widely discussed Abul Kalam murder case in Natore. The arrests were made on Tuesday night (June 23) from the Bhadail Bazar area under Ashulia Police Station in Dhaka.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Hafiz (35) and Md. Hamza (36), both residents of Kandivita Purbapara in Natore Sadar Upazila. The operation was jointly conducted by RAB-5, CPC-2 Natore Camp, and RAB-4, CPC-2 Savar Camp.

According to RAB, Abul Kalam (49) was killed in an attack that took place on the night of March 16 at Kadamtala Mor in Kandivita Purbapara, Natore Sadar Upazila, following a prior dispute. Several other people were also seriously injured in the incident. A murder case was later filed with Natore Police Station by a family member of the victim.

The investigation revealed that the conflict originated from an incident involving damage to a motorcycle. The dispute escalated, leading to a coordinated attack in which Abul Kalam was killed and several others were injured.

Following the incident, the accused went into hiding. Acting on intelligence information and after extensive surveillance, RAB tracked down their location and conducted the operation that led to their arrest.

RAB stated that during preliminary interrogation, the arrested individuals admitted their involvement in the incident.

The process of handing over the accused to the concerned police station for further legal action is currently underway.

RAB also reaffirmed its commitment to continuing operations to bring criminals to justice and ensure that offenders are brought under the law.
