US President Donald Trump has indicated the possibility of launching fresh military strikes against Iran, saying an attack could begin on Sunday (October 25). However, he also suggested that military action could be avoided if Tehran agrees to a major deal on Washington’s terms.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Trump said the possibility of striking Iran was under consideration and that the operation could begin as early as the following day.

The US president also expressed doubts about the prospects of a potential agreement with Iran. He claimed that even if Tehran agreed to a deal, questions remained over how reliably the country would honour its commitments.

Trump said one of his key objectives was to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons. In this regard, he referred to US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June last year. He suggested that further military action might still be necessary despite those attacks.

Trump also addressed the situation regarding oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz. He claimed that oil supplies through the strategic waterway had returned to levels seen before the war began, but he did not provide any evidence to support the assertion.

The US president also indicated that military action could be used to compel Iran to reach an agreement if Tehran refused to accept a deal. He said he believed Washington would achieve its objectives either through an agreement or through military action.
