On the occasion of World Accreditation Day
2026, the Director General of Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) extended his
sincere greetings and congratulations to all stakeholders, professionals and
those engaged in the protection of international standards. Aminul Islam.
In a
greeting message, he said, this year's theme "Innovation, Trust and
Sustainability: The Power of Accreditation" is very significant in the
current global economic reality. In the era of the Fourth Industrial
Revolution, maintaining trust in goods and services is one of the prerequisites
for economic development in the face of challenges such as rapid technological
change, complex global supply systems and climate change. Accreditation
encourages innovation, builds confidence in the market and plays an important
role in sustainable development and trade expansion.
The Director
General said that the Bangladesh Accreditation Board established under the
Bangladesh Accreditation Act, 2006 is working tirelessly to strengthen the
national quality infrastructure of the country. As the quality of domestic
products and services is assured by providing accreditation services according
to international standards, the acceptance and export capacity of the 'Made in
Bangladesh' brand in the global market has increased.
He mentioned
that BAB is currently operating as a full member of Mutual Recognition
Agreement (MRA) of Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) and
International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). This has resulted in
the accreditation of accredited laboratories and certification bodies by BAB
being recognized internationally, helping to save foreign exchange and
facilitate trade.
He further
said that Bangladesh's position in international trade has been strengthened by
achieving full membership of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) on
October 9, 2025. As a result, the opportunity to issue internationally
recognized ISO certificates has increased and various export-oriented
industries including food, environment, energy management, textiles will
benefit.
Md. Aminul
Islam said,BAB accepted the membership of Islamic Forum for Halal Accreditation
Bodies (IFHAB) on December 11, 2025 to achieve international recognition of
Halal conformity assessment activities in the country. This will increase
international acceptance of Halal certification and strengthen confidence in
Halal products and services.
He said the
launch of Global Accreditation Cooperation Inc. (GLOBAC) in 2026 is an
important milestone for the international accreditation system. BAB has created
new opportunities for Bangladesh's participation and capacity building in
international trade by gaining membership of this global platform.
In his
welcome message, the Director General said that accreditation is now an
essential national priority to ensure food safety, modern healthcare, quality
assurance of industries and services, environmental protection, development of
agriculture and fisheries sector, information technology and cyber security,
consumer protection and sustainable industrialization.
On the
occasion of World Accreditation Day 2026, he called for making the country's
accreditation system more modern, dynamic and universal and wished for
collective efforts of all to build a safe, inclusive, sustainable and globally
competitive Bangladesh.
