For Md. Shafiqul Islam, widely known as "MSI Masud", music has never been merely a passion—it has been a lifelong journey shaped by family, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the arts.

Born and raised in Bera, a remote area of Pabna district, Masud took his first steps into the world of music under the guidance of his father, Mizanur Rahman. While his mother was not a musician herself, her constant encouragement played an equally significant role in nurturing his artistic aspirations.

What began as performances at school functions and local cultural programmes gradually evolved into a professional career that has now spanned more than 14 years. Throughout his academic years, Masud regularly participated in music competitions, earning recognition and accolades for his performances. He also developed an early interest in rhythm and percussion, receiving training in tabla while accompanying his father during musical sessions.

Determined to refine his craft, Masud pursued formal training in music under renowned Nazrul Sangeet and classical music exponent Pradip Kumar Das. He later attended several specialised workshops at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and studied folk music at Chhayanaut, one of the country's leading cultural institutions.

Although he has a strong foundation in both folk and classical music, Masud's artistic identity has largely been shaped by his love for modern Bangla songs. Over the years, his performances on Bangladesh Television (BTV) and several leading private television channels have earned him a loyal audience across the country.

Today, he is also a familiar face on live stages, performing at concerts and cultural events nationwide. His ability to connect with audiences through both contemporary and traditional influences has contributed to his growing popularity among listeners of different generations.

Beyond music, Masud has expanded his creative pursuits into the field of media production. He has worked as a drama director and producer, exploring storytelling through television and digital platforms. His involvement in dramatic productions reflects a broader artistic vision—one that extends beyond singing and embraces multiple forms of creative expression.

According to Masud, both music and visual storytelling offer unique ways to engage with people and communicate emotions. His work in drama production has allowed him to experiment with narratives while continuing to pursue his musical ambitions.

Several of his original songs are currently awaiting release, marking a new chapter in his career as a recording artist. These projects, he says, represent his desire to contribute meaningful and contemporary content to Bangladesh's music industry.

Outside the entertainment arena, Masud remains involved in business activities and various social and humanitarian initiatives. Yet despite his diverse engagements, music continues to occupy the centre of his life.

As Bangladesh's creative industry continues to evolve, MSI Masud stands among a generation of artists seeking to transcend conventional boundaries. Whether through music, drama, or production, he remains committed to creating work that resonates with audiences while contributing to the country's rich cultural landscape.
