In the incident of the murder of Sub-Inspector (SI) Altaf Hossain (58) of the Special Branch of Police in Aminbazar, Savar, Dhaka, RAB has arrested eight accused named in the FIR. Among them, four were arrested by RAB-10 from Munshiganj Sadar and another four by RAB-4 from the Aminbazar area.

RAB stated that between approximately 8:30 PM and 11 PM on September 5, an incident of assault on the garage owner occurred in the Bordehi area of Aminbazar, Savar, centering around parking an auto-rickshaw. When SI Altaf Hossain and his son Ariful protested, they had an argument with the assailants.

As the situation escalated, SI Altaf Hossain identified himself as a police officer. At one point, to save himself from the assailants, he ran to take shelter in his son's garment factory. However, the assailants followed him there, bringing 15 to 20 more accomplices, and broke down the factory gate to enter.

According to RAB, the assailants assaulted SI Altaf Hossain and his son Ariful with local weapons and sticks. During this time, machines and furniture in the factory were also vandalised. In a severely injured condition, locals rescued them and took them to the Shaheed Sohrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka, where the on-duty doctor declared SI Altaf Hossain dead.
In this incident, the deceased's wife filed a murder case at Savar Model Police Station, naming 15 individuals and including several unnamed others as accused.
