A court has issued arrest warrants against Mohammad Ali Asghar and his associate mr Kayes in connection with a case arising from a land dispute in Mymensingh. According to sources connected with the case, the Judicial Magistrate Court in Mymensingh issued the order following proceedings on October 24, 2026.

According to case records, the case was registered as FIR No. 115/26 under Section 506(2) of the Penal Code, 1860, at Kotwali Model Police Station in Mymensingh. On September 4, Sayeed filed a General Diary (GD) with Kotwali Police Station, GD No. 606, alleging that Mohammad Ali Asghar had attacked him, assaulted him, and threatened to kill him.

Subsequently, following the recording of the complainant's testimony on October 6, 2026, Sub-Inspector Hafizur Rahman of Kotwali Model Police Station reportedly conducted an on-site inspection and completed an investigation under the court's direction before submitting an FIR to the court. After recording the statements of the witnesses, the court took cognizance of the case.

Sayeed alleges that after he filed the GD, Asghar and his associates became more aggressive toward him. He further claims that they repeatedly threatened to kill him, blocked his way, and threatened the lives of his family members. According to the complainant's side, the court considered his statements and subsequently issued arrest warrants against Mohammad Ali Asghar and his associate Kayes.

Mr Sayeed claims that the two families have been involved in a longstanding dispute over ownership of inherited land, land covered by registered sale deeds, and access roads. He further alleges that more than 15 people from among their relatives have been killed over the course of these disputes, while numerous others have sustained injuries. According to him, local residents are well aware of the longstanding conflict between the two families in the Taragai area of Kalyanpur, Mymensingh Sadar.

The complainant maintains that the investigating officer found evidence supporting the allegations and submitted the FIR to the court accordingly. Sayeed also told the court that the ongoing dispute had left him feeling unsafe because of alleged threats from Asghar's group.

Meanwhile, when contacted again by telephone, Mohammod Ali Asghar, who is currently in London, categorically denied the allegations. He claimed that he was not in Bangladesh at the time of the alleged incident on September 4. Asghar alleged that mr Sayeed was attempting to implicate him in a false case to serve personal interests.

Mr Asghar further claimed that he was being drawn into legal complications because of the inheritance-related land dispute. He expressed concern that his personal safety could be at serious risk if he returned to Bangladesh. He also alleged that Sayeed and his associates might kill him if they found him in the country.

Asghar said that, given the arrest warrant, he would likely be arrested by police immediately upon returning to Bangladesh. He therefore considers returning to the country at this stage unsafe and said he was unwilling to expose himself to the risk of arrest or death. Nevertheless, he expressed his willingness to cooperate with the ongoing legal process.

The statements of Sayeed and Mohammad Ali Asghar present conflicting accounts of the dispute and the allegations surrounding it. The veracity of the claims and the further course of the case will be determined through the legal process. Until then, Asghar considers remaining abroad the safer option.
